Ashford Hypnotherapy Centre

Joan Bower is a trained counsellor and qualified hypnotherapist.

She co-founded the Ashford Counselling Centre and was involved as a tutor, running self-awareness groups.
She has run short "Special Interest" courses in self-hypnosis for the HF holiday company in hotels in many different locations.

As work increased she introduced a new counsellor to Romney House Clinic and since has taken on two additional hypnotherapists so that together, hypnotherapy is available Monday to Saturday (and sometimes even on a Sunday!)

Joan is trained and experienced in Critical Incident stress de-briefing counselling, working with victims of threatened or actual violence. (Post traumatic stress.)

As relief Officer in Charge she has had invaluable experience in the Mental Health field when working for Social Services in a hostel for people recovering from mental ill health.

Whilst working for the Cruse Bereavement service she counselled families who had been bereaved by suicide.

With all her experience Joan uses an eclectic mix of tools including neurolinguistic programming and emotional freedom technique.

What is hypnotherapy?
Hypnosis is a natural phenomenon which we all pass through at least twice a day, on waking up and falling asleep.

It is conscious hypnosis because you are aware all the time of what is going on around you and are therefore, never out of control. (If something happened that required your attention you would naturally come out of hypnosis to deal with it.)

When your body is relaxed your mental awareness is heightened and your subconscious is then accessible.

SIMPLE SUGGESTION HYPNOSIS is normally two sessions. The second session is recorded onto a CD for home use to reinforce the clinic sessions.

It can be used for virtually any problem and all we ask you to bring to the session is an open mind!

ANALYTICAL HYPNOTHERAPY is for more deep-seated problems and needs many more sessions. This process works by extracting from the subconscious mind (sometimes memories that have been blocked off as they were so traumatic.)

FEES:
Suggestion therapy £53 per session or £100 for two sessions if paid up front

Analytical hypnosis £40 per session N.B. Only cheque or cash please.

What is counselling?
Counselling is for anyone who is willing to share their experiences with another person with a view to overcoming difficulties. Within a safe and caring environment the counsellor and client explore together ways of improving present problems whatever they may be.

Relationship counselling sometimes involves seeing both partners, separately initially and then together.

It is not always about making a relationship work but sometimes helping people separate in a more mutually beneficial way

Counselling can be short or long term and is individually tailored to the person's needs.

Fees: £40 per session NB Only cheque or cash please
